So back when I heard that Kim and Jerica were finally ‘all grown up’ and moving into a place of their own, I offered to cook as a house-warming present. I, of course, did not expect them to take me up on it, but they did… so tonight was the night for that. They invited their friend Becca, who was lots of fun (and has a really nice engagement/wedding right. woah.) and also invited Bo… who didn’t think we were cool enough to hang out with tonight. That’s ok. I’m over it.
Anyway… I haven’t really cooked anything in… well… months but I think it went well. On the menu was the soon-to-be world famous Mama Holiday’s Spaghetti, along with salad, green beans, and some garlic bread that I just kinda created. I enjoyed it thoroughly (though it still doesn’t compare to mom’s) and the ladies either did, or they did a fine job of pretending. (Thanks to Jerica for the help in the kitchen, and Kim for the ‘moral support’)
…what’s that? You didn’t know I could cook? Well, my mommy and daddy told me that I could do anything I wanted to do if I put my mind to it, so there.
We watched Office Space while we dined… I think that makes about the eleventy-billionth time I’ve seen it. And I still laugh. It’s a great movie.
So anyway… I’ve spent too much time playing around tonight and not enough time working… so I’m going to give that a shot. So maybe we ought to make this a weekly thing? I don’t know. I kinda liked it. And the best part is that there wasn’t much in the way of left overs. That’s the worst part, I think, is trying to cook for one person (or two, really) because you end up with so much left over. Cooking for four or five or six is a much better idea. So who’s in for next week?

I’m totally in for next week…or do I get another turn? And I didn’t know we weren’t supposed to take you up on the offer…I don’t respond to passive-aggressiveness, or whatever you wanna call it….say what you mean…especially when talking about food!
j/k! Might I also note that you left at about 9 and now, at 10:30, you have already posted and I have already read and commented? How sad are we….I mean really…
Oh you were supposed to take me up on it, people usually just don’t. And I don’t force the issue, because a guy in a kitchen is scary for some folks.
Laura, Rach, and Co. have already secured next week’s spot… Tuesday night… you and Kim are welcome to come along. It’ll be fun.
And we’re not sad at all. You hush.
I’m in! Sorry I couldn’t make it tonight. I’m just too cool to see you guys ALL the time
Hopefully I won’t have to work…we’ll work it out!
Also, Jerica…about the whole us being sad thing: We’re math majors. ‘Nuff said.
I can’t believe that no one has commented on the blatantly obvious SNL Celebrity Jeopardy reference…”eleventy billion”? C’mon people, get with it. And yes, Pete, the food was awesome…mostly through my moral support.
