So I guess I’ve been neglecting my poor little blog. It’s a good thing this blog isn’t a child because a) I’d vehemently deny that it belongs to me, and b) it’s a foul-mouthed little thing… also, it would have died if I neglected it for so long and then I’d probably be looking at some sort of charges for child abuse.

But anyway. I had big aspirations to blog at the end of last week and they just never materialized. Lacking motivation.

So, in what must have been the most spontaneous thing I’ve done in a long, long time… friday afternoon I decided that there wasn’t enough going on in town this weekend, and I headed out in search of adventure. Where to? Statesboro, Georgia… home of Georgia Southern University — host of College Southerns, a 40 team ultimate frisbee tournament. I figured that since ‘Bama, at one time, was considering going and I had planned on going with them… I might as well head down and see if any of the teams would let me play. I also knew that Indiana’s team was going to be playing there, so I thought that, best case scenario, I could play with some of the guys that I’ll be playing with next year.

The one draw back to this little plan — and what made it so spontaneous — is that when I left Tuscaloosa late Friday afternoon I didn’t have a place to stay for Friday or Saturday night… I didn’t have a guarantee that I’d be able to play with anyone… I wasn’t sure exactly where the fields were on campus or what time the captain’s meeting was on saturday morning… really, the only thing I did know, is that by about 1:00am (Georgia Time) I’d be in Statesboro. The rest was up in the air.

The result was very good. After a few phone calls that didn’t pan out, I managed to grab a spot on the floor of the William & Mary women’s team for Friday night. They were all headed to the fields for the captains meeting the next morning, so I had two of the big unknowns covered. Remaining were who I was going to play with and where I was staying Saturday night.

Saturday morning I got out to the fields and found that UTC’s B team was really short-handed. With me they had 6 guys (7 on the field at a time). After I had agreed to play with them, I ran into one of the guys from IU who said they had been playing a lot lately and were a little tired and banged up and could use some fresh legs. Well, having already agreed to play with UTC B I told him I didn’t think I’d be able to… but I ended up losing the UTC team at some point and couldn’t find their fields and the first games had already started… so I figured I was SOL for playing with them and went to find Indiana.

They said it’d be cool if I played with them and by the end of the day I had picked up their offense reasonably well and felt like I was playing pretty well. The guys are freakin’ crazy, but fun, and it should be a great team to play with next year. We went 3-1 on Saturday, not so well on Sunday… but I ate with them on Saturday and stayed with them Saturday night.

Sunday I headed back to Tuscaloosa, but not before grabbing lunch at Zaxby’s, which Charlsie had sworn was amazing. It’s very Guthries’s like… but I liked it a lot better. The chicken was better, the fries were better, it was a little more expensive (50 cents, I think) but over all a much better experience… I highly recommend Zaxby’s if you’ve got one near you.

In other news, I got a bill for graduation over the weekend. I guess I’m one step closer to being done with this whole undergrad thing and being a Real Live Law School Student™. How crazy is that?

What did y’all do this weekend?

I don’t know… they just charge us to graduate. I’m not walking so it’s not a fee for anything like that. Maybe it’s for the diploma.

I went to Dreamland(for the first time) and ate dinner with my friends. And then we went bowling. Did I mention I’m an awesome bowler? Anyhoo, I haven’t seen you in three weeks. Where does the time go?

Last weekend… right that was 3 full 8hr shifts of work… a bunch of CKI work… a sprinkling of homework (evidently not enough of it), and some television watching and internet catch up. Talk about work-filled! :)

    Pete,

Why aren’t you walking? And by the way, how much does your school charge you for graduation? And also, where do you plan to go to law school at?

That is spontaneous. Good for you. I second you on Zaxby’s.
