If you’re a liberal, that is.
Take, for example, a sampling of Michelle Malkin’s fan mail. The letters come from leftists, democrats, and liberals of all stripes, and have to be some of the most disgusting and vile pieces of filth that I’ve read in a long time. You might note that Malkin’s post links to her most recent column wherein she talks about how the recent DoE payola scam was unequivocally bad (Wow, what do you know, intellectual integrity from a conservative. Color me shocked. Not.) and how such nonsense can really hurt the already maligned minority conservatives.
Now, if Malkin were a liberal receiving those sort of notes from conservatives, the left would be all up in arms about ‘those bigots on the right’ but since she’s a conservative she is, apparently, fair game for any sort of racial epithet, slur, or stereo-typed insult one can come up with. This is the double standard established by Oliver Willis[#]. Observe.
Taking time off from writing about how all the Asians and Arabs should be rounded up and sent to internment camps, Michelle Magalang whines about those poor, misunderstood minoritiy[SIC] conservatives and how everybody now understands that they’re on the take. Here’s a tip for Magalang, JC Watts, Armstrong Williams and the rest of you: quit taking money from rich white guys and berating your own people, and we’ll quit calling you out for the buckrakers that you are. Deal?
How someone who claims to be intelligent can write something like that is wholly beyond me. Of course, the basic premise that Oliver is standing on is that it’s impossible that Malkin has come to her conservative beliefs of her own accord. That is, of course, because liberalism is “correct” and any minority who chooses to make their own way instead of demanding and perpetuating the affirmative action/reverse racism entitlement programs is somehow a sell-out and race traitor. How dare Malkin have the NERVE to succeed on her own merit! What about those minorities who can’t… ahem because of the “inherent racism” of the system!
It’s simply astonishing. Imagine if the roles were reversed… I certainly don’t think he (or anyone else) should be subjected to this sort of discourse, but since he seems to approve of Malkin being labeled a “Republican Whore” it makes me wonder how happy he’d be to get a deluge of emails calling him one of the “Democrats’ House Niggas.” Imagine if he posted those emails and conservatives said things like “Quit taking money from Media Matters and making your own people look like ignorant assholes and we’ll quit calling you out for being the partisan shill that you are. Deal?”
