Raining all night… winds picking up now. I’m getting ready to head to work, and I’m going to shut down the the computer so I can take my hard drives with me… just in case. I don’t know what I’d do if I lost all the stuff on this computer.
Right now the news is reporting that there are 266,000 homes in Alabama without power… already more than Opal or Frederick… and Birmingham/Tuscaloosa still have yet to feel the brunt of the storm. Wind gusts in Birmingham/Tuscaloosa wind gusts are at 30-40… down in Demopolis the gusts are up to 60 already — an hour and a half to the south.
Tuscaloosa Police Capt. David Hartin is on the news now reporting four of five trees down as of 7:30am.
Asked to describe the state of the City of Tuscaloosa his description: “Well, it’s wet.”
Thank you, Capt. Hartin.
Y’all stay safe, warm, and dry… I’ll check back in if I can. Otherwise, feel free to call.

Pete,
Is this the worse weather ever in Alabama history?
