A few months ago I sprained my rotator cuff playing ultimate. that caused me to do a little digging to find out just what that injury was all about. I found that that it can take quite a while to heal back to 100%. I recall one source saying “up to six months.”

I also recall thinking that was a load of crap. I haven’t had any trouble doing day-to-day things or playing ultimate in a month or two, so about three weeks ago I decided to try to get back into the habit I was in before the injury of working out. I decided to give the 100 push-ups training plan a try.

While doing the first day of the plan, I felt a little shoulder pain. It had been a while since that had happened, but I worked through it. Wednesday rolled around, and I just couldn’t finish the second work-out — too much strain on the shoulder. I figured I’d start over a week later.

The next week? Same result. Ditto for the week after.

I guess this is where the “100%” thing comes in — for most purposes, I’m better. But I’m not 100% yet. Next week I’m going to drop to the lower work-out tier and see if maybe it will function as rehab.

Regardless, today is the AFDC’s Mid-summer Tournament, so I’ll be out at the fields for most of the day, hopefully with Scout in tow.
