Pete on January 29th, 2009

So, for those of you who stalk me are friends with me on Facebook, you might have already come to hear about the biggest news in the World of Pete this week. Specifically: I was fired on Monday. No, it wasn’t economy related (I don’t think), and I really had no idea it was coming. My best guess, so far, is that it was because the company was intimidated by my striking good looks.

At any rate, I took a few days to lounge around the apartment compose myself and recover from this crushing blow, but today the job search begins anew. I’ve got the savings to see me through the end of March if I’m thrifty, which should be plenty of time.

Far more important than that, however — my brother deploys for Iraq with the USMC today. It’ll be his first tour and he said he’s expecting to be over there for at least 12 months. Stay safe, buddy, we’re proud of you.

Other news from this week: I finally got the old truck back in action. Needed to have the clutch, master, and slave cylinders replaced. It was not cheap, but I was car-less for almost a month and it was time to remedy that problem.

I found a fun group of folks who play euchre once a week at a Mexican restaurant nearby and I’ve also gotten back into the ultimate thing, both are good outlets.

That’s really all that’s going on this week. I guess there’s a football game on Sunday? Old, washed-up college players, I think. I’ll probably watch it anyway.

Hey Pete, hope your brother stays safe over there! My brother graduated from his recruit training this past December from Camp Pendleton and is now in Florida doing the whole school thing. We are also proud of our Marine! :)

Good Luck with the job search, Pete! I imagine it’s not the easiest in this economy. I’m even seeing more and BETTER applications at my place of employment and that’s really something!

I was looking up “snowboarding for dummies” and you are the first thing that came up. You made me laugh and give me hope for this weekend, I only meant to read a little but you made my work day go by.
Hope the job search goes well, to pass time you should go to Hulu.com and watch -it’s always sunny in philadelphia or BSG
