Kecia and ReeseKecia and Reese came to visit today. She’s getting so big, and she’s almost crawling which is really neat to see. We took a trip to the Lincoln Museum which is worth the price of admission if you’re in the area — very well put together and informative.

Yesterday I got mail from the Illinois High School Association with my patches and ID card to officiate baseball. Not going to be of much use to me since I’m moving in a few weeks, but that’s alright. Maybe I can get my registration transferred to Georgia. I guess that’s something to worry about later, though.

In very important news, I implore you to go vote for me in the latest hot blogger poll. I intend to lower taxes and gas prices if elected Mayor of the Hot Blogosphere, so just let that guide your decision making process if you have any doubts.

Finally, if you like bourbon and cupcakes, check out Bourbon Cupcakes over at FanHouse. It’s part of something new we’re trying this year to spend a little time each week focused on tailgating. I’m doing my part by contributing a recipe a week for tailgating food. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me for future weeks.

One Response to “How’s That for Timing?”

  1. I really enjoyed being an umpire when I did it a few years back while living in LA. I did it for about 5 years. It’s nice side job money and it kept me in pretty good shape. I would love to get back into it but don’t really have the time these days.

As far as tailgating, the best things are simple, such as jambalaya and southern comfort, or hamburgers and southern comfort, or grilled boudain and southern comfort, etc! Actually the best I’ve ever had was when some friends at LSU, a few years back, did a couchon-du-lait (roasted pig). They built a wooden smoker box, got a pig, dug a hole, and cooked it for a good 24 hours or so I believe. And yes, it was for the Arkansas game!
