The other day I lost a pair of pants. I am not kidding. It was, in fact, my only decent pair of Khakis — law school teaches you how to be professional, but they certainly don’t help you look the part. Because not having a pair of khakis serious impairs my ability to dress business casual five days a week without getting really, horribly repetitive, I had to go buy some new pants. Pants are easy to buy, and I got two pair — one pair in khaki, the other in charcoal. They fit well enough, although they could stand a half-inch taken off the length. I also picked up a new shirt because, hey! new clothes!
Apparently there are some women in my life who do not trust my judgment in this department (despite the fact that I have watched an awful lot of What Not To Wear), and photographs have been requested. Because I always do everything I’m told, I will oblige:

Next on the “things I need to buy” agenda is a pair of brown shoes to replace the current pair that has lasted almost 8 years. I’m pretty sure I wound up spending less than $10 a year on them.
…preference between the two? Suggestions for other shoes to consider?

*ALWAYS* buy decent shoes. Inexpensive shoes are ALWAYS a giveaway when you are dining with the bigwigs.
Check http://www.josabank.com for decent selection & prices (and some decent casual clothes). Get on their email lists for free shipping and a pretty regular 40-70% off specials.

How does one lose a pair of pants?

I like pair #1.

Dark brown shoes are more versatile. The others are snazzy but won’t match as well with everything.

“How does one lose a pair of pants?”
There are very interesting answers to this question.

I don’t like either pair, however I cannot offer an alternative just yet.

Seeing as I’m 1,000 miles away, I don’t think I’ll like ANY answer to that question.l

Interesting-adventurous or interesting-sexy?
Or perhaps a bit of both?

I agree with Pair #1.

Boo, Kevin, I need a site like that for women. Preferably with recommendations.
For a girl I’m terrible at the shopping and I need to do something like that soon.

Where are the pictures with the charcoal pants?
Option #1 on the shoes.

The answer in the instant case is really, really boring. (I’m pretty sure a bum stole them)
In general, though, how one loses a pair of pants can vary wildly from situation to situation.

A friend of mine lost hers one night at the beach. She hadn’t been swimming.

Pair number 1.
What about the charcoal pants?
June 10th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Not a fan of penny loafers, so between the two, I’d go with pair number one.
Have you looked at something like a balmoral/oxford or monk-strap? Either one of those can do double duty with a suit (or vice-versa), particularly in the brown shades.

What not to wear has been pretty good lately I hope you’ve kept up your watching habits :D. I’d say of the two pair number one.

I’m liking the second pair of shoes. Not so much the penny-loafer aspect, but I’m digging the color.

I like the top pair of shoes bestest.
Also did you “lose your pants” in that you lost them playing strip poker? Did they die? Did Scout or your washer eat them? Did they just decide to run away one day? How does one lose a pair of pants?

I’m still quite unclear on how or with whom my pants absconded, to be honest.
