Sometime in the past day or two, Blingo made a really, really awful change. They dumped Google. Now if you search Blingo, you get Windows Live, Yahoo, and Ask.com search results. Google’s nowhere to be found, and repeats (the same result from two different engine) are common. In short: it sucks.

I can’t find anything about the change, and their blog hasn’t been updated since October.

Well, it was a good run, but I guess Publisher’s Clearing House had to ruin it at some point. Time to go back to vanilla google.

  1. This had to have happened sometime today, otherwise I didn’t notice it last night. F’ers.

Perhaps it is temp, I heard Google was having phishing problems recently.

Kevin: Probably… I immediately noticed the page looked odd.

T: That wouldn’t impact blingo at all. My guess is that MS/Yahoo/Ask is just cheaper.

The upside: We don’t have to read another “Look what Pete won on Blingo THIS time” post. :o )

  5. TSC Girl says:

Oh we’ll still have to hear that if one of his “friends” wins, then he wins too. It won’t be me though – I won ONCE!

I noticed it last night as well, and was like “WTF?” Well, Blingo was blocked at work anyway, so I was already forced to use Google during the hours of 8-5.

That does suck horribly and I’m so disappointed. I have been very happy with Blingo since they started, and I even won a Tivo from them. But, now their results are just awful. Maybe someone would like to start a petition or email campaign to ask Blingo to switch back to Google? If so, contact me at blue-blingo.pogue25@spamgourmet.com and we’ll figure something out.

In the meantime, the only other similar type of search is Winzy, and they get their results from Ask. Not that great, but might be of interest to some:

This is pretty disappointing. I may do some occasional searches just for the prize entry, but will definatley have to go back to Google for my day-to-day (or minute-to-minute) searching.
