Yesterday I posted about Bloomington Startup Weekend and thought that maybe the organizers should’ve done things a little differently in terms of their technorati “spamming” (linking to someone to get their attention and hope that they click on your link) but I got an email from one of the organizers who explained a little more about what BSW is:
bloomington.startupweekend.com is the official site and includes a link to an online registration. We are charging $20 each to help cover the costs involved with organization, including getting a SW facilitator to show up. There will also be local sponsors and (possibly) local musicians involved.
We start on Friday at 5p and work as a group to identify a new product to work on. Saturday is about building, and Sunday about launching. The big benefit of participation, though, is hooking into a local network of professionals and academics, ranging from designers to lawyers and businessfolk. Any skillset is welcome, as long as it comes in the form of a motivated person willing to contribute to a collaboration for the weekend.
So that sounds interesting. I’m not sure if I have a whole weekend to give, but it might be worth checking out… I just wonder what kind of “startup” will be starting up.
