Hey Pete,
I’m an LSU fan, and one of my “Bama Buddies” forwarded me the link of Jamarcus Russell wearing the “Bama Bling” necklace. I think he thought that I would be freaked out. I simply thought it was weird. I passed the e-mail on to a well known website host of a LSU Fan website, and he’s telling me that the whole thing is phony.

I personally think the pic is real, but I can’t prove that. Can you prove it? As for Jamarcus, I’d like to hear him explain why he sported the “Bama Bling”. Then I could make my judgement on the whole deal. As for now the whole thing simply remains weird.

If you give me an e-mail address I can send you a weird pic of Nick Saban on Bourbon St.

Signed,

Baffled on the Bayou

Dear Baffled,
I’m not sure what would “prove” it, but the photo was taken by Getty photographer Nick Laham, and you can see his whole string of photos at the Getty website so I can’t imagine it being faked or doctored at all. The guy would never get work again, and if it were fake, I’d guess JaMarcus would make quite a stink about it.

So, no, it’s not a phoney.

As for that picture of Saban, feel free to send it to peteholiday at gmail. I would have just emailed you instead of posting, but you didn’t include an address. Hope this clears things up.

Thanks,

Pete
