A while back, the FanHouse folks got an email about some “Hot Blogger” competition being put on by the gals at Ladies… and we were encouraged to participate. I was torn. On the one hand, I’ve always been pretty good looking for a computer nerd. On the other, these are all sports bloggers, so I could very easily be out of my league. But, in the end, I figured… what the hell… Alabama plays basketball sometimes, I can toss my hat in the ring.
Fast-forward to today… the brackets are out, and I (unbelievably) earned a 9-seed in my bracket. Lord only knows how. One thing is for sure, though, because I’m listed as an Alabama blogger, the school’s reputation is at stake. In fact, my opponent wrote this in the comments to the bracket entry:
Shit. I’m up against an Alabama fan, who is probably tailgating with a crew of 2,000 for the event. I need a miracle.
So what do you say we just pretend this is a spring practice scrimmage and pump some 90,000 screaming fans into the poll to vote for me. You all know that my fragile ego needs all of the help it can get, and while there would be no shame in losing this match-up (and, truthfully, I’ll be shocked if I go farther than the second round), it could be devastating to my self-image.
So go vote for me. Or, I guess, for the other guy.
…then, when you’re done voting for me (or the other guy), check out the whole shebang. There’s a ton of great writers in there and, for the ladies, some pretty good looking man-meat.
