So over at Faith’s blog she’s participating in some damn meme, and since we all know how much I hate them… here are the rules that were laid out:

Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.” I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better. If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate/difficult! You WILL update your journal/blog/whatever with the answers to the questions (please don’t leave your answers in my comments unless you don’t have a blog). You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

So… here’s the interview, as requested.

  1. How do you think law school has changed your personality?
Well… I don’t know that it really has. Some people might disagree, but I feel like basically the same person now that I was when I got here. I’m probably a little more studious and a little more meticulous in my reading/writing… but as far as base personality, I don’t think any of my friends from college really think that i’ve changed. Then again, maybe they do… and they can feel free to disagree in the comments.
  2. How long have you been with Amanda?
About 15 months… which is about 14 months longer than is probably safe for her, but she seems somewhat obvlivious to that. Either that or she’s using me to fend off the other weirdos until she can get back out into the real world.
  3. What type of job would you like to have after school?
I want a job where I get paid lots of money to sit on my ass, play video games, and blog. So I guess I probably should’ve gone to business school. A more realistic view would be one where I get to use the only real legal skill I have: courtroom presence. I’m not sure how I’d feel about civil litigation (not enough cases actually see the inside of a courtroom) or criminal defense (where all of your clients are, almost by definition, morons). Although right now my aim is to get into the military and go the JAG route. We’ll see. I’m keeping my options open.
  4. What’s the worst thing about law school?
The worst thing about law school is the same as the worst thing about most anything else: the people who whine about their lot in life but refuse to do anything to change it. I love the people here, love the environment, love the professors, etc. The worst thing is the malcontents who blame their suffering on everyone they see but forget to consider that they, themselves, might be the real reason for their unhappiness. (No, I’m not referring to anyone specifically… this comment applies to a fair number of people at lots of different law schools).
  5. Why do you want to be a lawyer?
Because I think I’ll enjoy it. The prospect of making some money is nice, but this is a profession that I can really see myself doing for the rest of my life — a feeling I didn’t have with computer science. I like solving problems, and (to me) lawyering feels like one big problem-solving task and I like that challenge to it.

So… there you have it. Anyone who wants to play can request an interview in the comments and I will do my best to keep the questions fit for public conversation.
