MySpace is a cancer. It’s true. Until recently, however, I’ve not felt compelled to ditch it because facebook wasn’t open to the public. Now it is. Now nobody has an excuse to be on MySpace.
There are lots of things wrong with MySpace, here are a few:
- 14-year-olds. Period.
- People whose design skills consist of “blinking”, “sparkly”, and “trippy” who insist on customizing their pages.
- Things that automatically play when you sign onto a profile page
- Security holes
- Horrible user interface
- When I tell it to “remember me” it never does.
And as of today there’s something else wrong with MySpace: I’m no longer a member.

I would certainly agree with your points. But I am going to hang on to myspace for two reasons:
1) There are people who post only on there, in non-public posts, that I wish to read, and I can only do so if I’m their friend.
2) It’s going to take a bit of time for facebook to expand. A lot of people I know never had a facebook and instead had a myspace because they were no longer in college and could not sign up.
Now that facebook is open to everyone… if people start moving over there… then maybe myspace won’t be so cool to me anymore.

“maybe myspace won’t be so cool to me anymore.”
…MySpace isn’t cool now.

Myspace itself is not cool… the face I can read about my friends is cool. Their information is what drives me there. If there information was somewhere else, I’d go somewhere else. That’s what I meant to say =)
