So my “top secret” job that I’ve been talking about lately… I’ve been asked to cover Alabama football for AOL Sports. They’ve setup what is basically the ultimate college football blog ever. They have at least one blogger dedicated to each NFL team and they are aiming to get one blogger to cover each college football team, too. Right now almost all of the major teams are being covered. I’m responsible for ‘Bama.
So that leads me to the fact, and it should not surprise you, that the Auburn blogger is a typical Auburn fan. Classless, trashy, and with a severe inferiority complex. This isn’t AOL’s fault, of course, because it would be very hard to find one who isn’t.
Anyway… so odds are pretty good that Auburn will get the best of Alabama this year in the Iron Bowl. Jay Coulter got really excited about that and blew his load and, on the basis of the last six years, has declared the Alabama program dead.
Don’t worry, ‘Bama fans… I set him straight.
I wouldn’t hold it against him, though. You can’t expect an Auburn fan to understand tradition.

That is honestly one of the most poorly written articles I’ve ever read. His comparisons make no sense, his opinions wouldn’t be backed by many Auburn fans, and he generally just doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Could someone please tell me when it occured that “Auburn is Alabama”? That’s a new one on me and I’ve lived in central Alabama my whole life.

Really, he just makes Auburn sound bad. Not that I care much about Auburn, but I sure wouldn’t want to be an Auburn fan and read the article. It’s like he thinks Auburn can’t make their own fame and glory and has to look up to Alabama’s tradition.
Auburn is not Alabama. Auburn is just a good team as of late. You could say the exact same about Tennessee, NIU, VT, and many other teams in the past few years. You could say that about Alabama for half the season last year. And you could say more about teams like USC recently. Tradition takes many years to build, and for Auburn, their tradition is looking up to Alabama.

Wow, good job Pete with setting him straight! How about that Reggie Bush allegation by Yahoo! Investigative Sports reporters? Should USC be stripped of the title and Bush of his Heisman, if it’s true?
