The Peoples’ Champions down on the plains are in for a little trouble with the NCAA, I think.

I’m not going to gloat because, for starters, this is what those trailer-dwelling, championship envying rednecks have coming to them after spending years having a little too much fun at the expense of Alabama and the heavy-handed sanctions the NCAA handed out. Secondly, we all know they’re just going to get a slap on the wrist.

18 players took 97 “directed reading” courses from one sports-fan sociology professor where their total reading for a semester would usually amount to little more than one book and their grades differed from the rest of their GPA by more than an entire grade point on average.

My prediction is that Auburn will forfeit no games from past seasons and they’ll lose no scholarships.

Sure, these kids got to skate through school illegitimately …but at least none of them got money under the table from a rogue booster, right? No harm done.

I think it’ll become clear that what the NCAA is interested in is money, not ‘helping the athletes’.
