We have a brief due Thursday. This isn’t really such a big deal, but it is important, and is going to require me to buckle down (like I have the past day or so) and really get some work done. It’s exacerbated by the fact that it’s a partner project, so we can’t just wait until Wednesday night to finish it up. I’m having a tough time getting motivated for it, though. In other law-related news, I’m behind in most of my classes. Woohoo!

To add to the fun, the Ultimate team has a tournament this coming weekend in Charlotte which means 28 hours (or so) on the road, and I might end up having to drive, effectively robbing me of any potential study time all weekend. It’s the first tournament of our spring season, though, and it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s also where the A-Team will be set for the year (subject to change) after that, it’s tournaments every other weekend for eight weeks if you’re on the A squad. All of them just about as far away as Charlotte (Atlanta, Baton Rogue, and Austin). It’s going to be a great year and we have a great shot at getting to Nationals if we work hard and play hard. That’s sort of important, so we’re practicing a lot. Between work-outs and practices I have one day off a week (Friday). But getting on the field in Columbus this summer will make it all worth it.

As though that weren’t enough, and it is, there are three little side-projects going on. One of which is for Wizbang’s new blogging community. This one is pretty straight-forward, it’s just requiring a bit of time when I should be doing LRW. The other two are both projects with his Manny-ness, neither of which I can really talk about just yet, but one of them is going to be a pretty big deal, I think. I’ve been pushing those back as much as possible hoping to keep them from overlapping with the other project and LRW, but I’m only having limited success with that.

Compounding all of that is the fact that I’ve been going to bed earlier lately, which really takes some very productive hours out of my day. I’ve been trying to counter-act that by getting up earlier to work, but with limited success. I’m just not a morning person, really.

This recent streak of busy work has really cramped my going-out style. So, of course, I’ve had to deal with adolescent-style peer-pressure and harassment… which is not surprising because, obviously, law School == middle school with booze. In fact just last night a drunken classmate IMed me at 3:30 to call me a “pussy” for not going out. Of course, most of these people have nothing going on in their lives besides law school, so it makes sense that they would just assume the same of others. Quite funny, though, was this classmate’s away message… almost made me feel like I made a good decision not to go out:

Auto response from KyleWaldie: So, someone hit me over the head with a beer bottle. I hate undergrads. Then, I spent the next hour trying to find my car. After walking like 10 blocks past it, I turned around, and eventually found it. So I’m home with a huge fucking welt on the back of my head. Did I mention how much I hate undergrads? At least my girlfriend’s mom loves me! I wish I was sleeping next to her… but I’m drunk and alone. Oh well.

I feel sort of bad for him, though… this is the kid who fell and smacked his head at a bar the other night trying to help a “similarly situated” classmate down the stairs on their way home. Then again, I’m pretty sure I’ve never put up an away message implying that I wanted to sleep with my girlfriend’s mother.

Might not have put an away message up, but c’mon now… I’m sure it’s ran across your mind.

Hahaha, so true, RJ, especially with MY mom.
