In about an hour I’m supposed to hop in the car and head on down the road for Alabama. This would not be such a bad thing except that a few months ago I lost my MP3 player (I left it in a rental… big surprise that it was never “found”). Being unable to really think about tolerating such a long drive without enough music to sing along to, I decided to bite the bullet and go replace my little buddy. And…

…I bought a Nano.

I’ve got to say, it sort of makes me wish that the other iPods weren’t so technically inferior to other hard-drive based players (in the case of the shuffle, it’s inferior to pretty much every audio playing device ever created) because iTunes is probably the best program to sync up music, and the interface on the player itself is really good, too. Now, I will say that the regular iPods don’t have as big an interface advantage on other hard-drive based players as the Nano has on other flash-based players because the Nano brings the hard-drive based player interface to a flash device… but still, very nice.

I only got the 2GB version because they didn’t have any 4GBs, but I’m tempted to sell this one after Christmas and buy a 4GB. We’ll see.

Anyway, I like it. Oh, and the rumors are true, these things are freaking tiny. I just wish it came with an arm-band like certain other players do as opposed to making me spend $30 for a glorified piece of Velcro. Also, I know I’m going to need a cover for this thing to keep it from getting scratched up — suggestions?
