Apple finally introduced a player at a spec and price-point that I can fully support: the iPod Nano — it’s a flash-based player that is very small and holds 2GB or 4GB of music. The 4GB runs $250 ($200 for the 2GB).
I paid $150 for my 512MB iRiver — which plays OGG, but I’ve found that it is finicky about what kind of ogg files it plays… so I end up having to convert most of them anyway.
Anyone want to buy an iRiver for cheap? I’d totally buy one of these things.
The only thing it doesn’t have would be an FM Tuner… and I think I’d like to have that… but I can’t say that I’ve used it very often at all on my iRiver.
Very, very nice little device.
(See! I’m not an anti-mac zealot… just a principled consumer of electronics)

Color me stunned. Regarding the iPod Nano, I was surprised they went with the color screen. They ought to have totally skipped the shuffle in favor of this little gem.

Amen… the shuffle is the worst portable MP3 player ever created… and yet the sell like hotcakes.
Why?
Because they’re trendy. *shrug*

that sucks though.. i wonder if everyone who just bought a shuffle feels cheated. (although i’m sure you’ll tell me they should feel that way anyways :P)

That’s exactly what I’d tell you.
