Because, to be honest, I wish it was one. Unfortunately it is not the weekend. It is Tuesday. And I am sitting here in the library. I’ve been at the law school since about 8:15… excepting, of course, 45 minutes for lunch and 45 minutes for dinner. That’s because I’m hardcore.
It’s also because this week is officially ridiculous. But there I go talking about the week when I expressly decided to talk about weekends. Fuck me.
So the weekend!
This past weekend started… wait for it… on Friday. I did go out for Martinis on Thursday night with some folks… but it was just one and then back home, so that doesn’t count.
Friday, though, we did party like rockstars. You know… rockstars who go to Karaoke bars. I bet they’d be pretty good. I guess what I mean to say is that I took advantage of the pitcher specials by making sure I had two pitchers on my person at all times. I also occasionally had a cup of some other beverage in my shirt pocket.
We can pretend like I was not drinking directly from the pitchers. We can also pretend like I did not order five pitchers throughout the course of the night. Neither of these things would be true, of course, but we could pretend them. This in addition to the pre-partying we did. In defense of me and my liver and kidneys, I was very liberal in the dispensing of alcohol from my pitchers… I would say that I didn’t drink more than 3.5 pitchers by myself while at the bar.
I found myself at home at 3:00ish and set my alarm to be out at the PILF Softball tourney the next morning. I made it out to the fields by 9:30 and watched the first game which pitted a 1L team against a team of 3Ls who won last years tournament. Our fellow 1Ls lost, but we avenged them with a 26-8 thumping of the poor-spirited 3Ls. I don’t think they liked losing. Oh well, I can’t really blame them.
The second game, against another team of 3Ls, was similar. 18-3 I think was the final in that one.
The third game was the student championship — the winner of which was to play the faculty. Even if our defense hadn’t gone to hell in the third game, we still would’ve had a hard time winning. It took us a few innings to notice that they were pitching from 10 feet in front of where they were supposed to and by that time the damage was done and there was no catching up, so we lost.
I played well in the three student games and wound up getting to play on the faculty team when they didn’t have enough players. I was 2/2 in the faculty game with 2 triples and 5 RBIs… but the faculty lost anyhow. But it was fun.
After that a group of us went and got ice cream and then I headed home. Sunday I tried really hard to get my work done, but didn’t finish as much as I’d have liked… then again, I never do.
This week is crazy, but Friday is Soctoberfest — the annual law school soccer game — which should be fun. This coming weekend I get all caught up so that next week the study group can meet and start putting together a strategy to know everything there is to know about Contracts, CivPro, and Torts by the time the final rolls around.
And that’s all for now. Bear with me: I’ll be sparse this week — we have a draft of our second writing assignment due on Thursday.
