My private loan for next year — how I was going to be getting almost half of the money I need to go to school — was rejected because it lacked a cosigner. This, for those of you playing at home, is bad news. It’s especially bad because it’s so late in the game.
Why did it take this long? Because the idiots at Sallie Mae copied my address down incorrectly from my application into their system, so their credit check was put on hold. Then IU took 2+ weeks to certify the amount and here we are.
What am I going to do?
No idea.
Maybe IU’s Financial Aid folks will get back to me some time soon and let me know what my “other options” are and whether or not those are going to be quick enough or sufficiently large to handle my needs.
Should that fall through… anyone know of any good job openings in Bloomington, Indiana for a guy without a degree?

Worst case scenario, Check out the statcounter.com job, and go to school part time.
Don’t despair about the late date, I did my loan paperwk for my first year later than this and everything worked out fine. They want you to go to school there so they will most likely find some way of making that happen.

Well, I was gonna say what Bo said, but I realized that it would result in me getting a firm punch in the face…so yeah….no comment.

Somehow it always works out–financial aid and loans in general blow, but it will work out for you. And if for some reason it doesn’t…. we’ve got lots of storage space and your choice of an airmatress or couch

apply to keybank law loans. when sallie mae required a cosignor for my summer loan, I tried Key, and they gave it to me with no cosignor. The rates were higher, but not by much… dont remember exact amounts. sorry I didn’t let you know earlier… I’ve been in England with no laptop. good luck
