So let me see if I understand this correctly, first we have this:

President Bush’s chief policy adviser, Karl Rove, set off a national firestorm Wednesday night when he told a New York Conservative Party group that liberals wanted to “offer therapy and understanding for our attackers” in the wake of the September 11 attacks, while conservatives “saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war.”

Which causes the Dem’s to flip right the fuck out… Kerry said it was “an outrageous attempt to divide the nation at just the moment we must be unified.” Wait, wait… JOHN KERRY said that? Wasn’t he the one who said “Wrong war, at the wrong place, at the wrong time?” But that’s not divisive, of course. It’s different!

Then there’s this:

Senators Schumer, Clinton, Corzine, Lautenberg, Dodd, and Lieberman wrote a letter to Mr. Rove asking him to retract his comment.

“Your comments were inaccurate and inflammatory,” the coalition of tristate senators, all of them Democrats, wrote. “To come into the heart of New York City, which has suffered so deeply and is still recovering from those savage attacks, to try to score partisan, political points at the expense of the 3,000 victims and their families was unacceptable and opportunistic. It was a slap in the face to the unity that America achieved after September 11, 2001.”

Of course, these senators didn’t make a public statement about Howard Dean when he commented that “Republicans have never made an honest living in their lives.”

Because, clearly, that’s different! (Though I’m not really sure how)

…what a bunch of hypocrites. Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it. (My guess is that Rove’s comment just hits a little too close to home for them)

One Response to “But it’s different!”

  1. Pete, yeah…obviously there’s a double standard here. What strikes me as incredible is that the Democratic party has realized they can’t touch Bush so they’ve moved on to attacking [wait for it] his STAFFERS. As I told the Senator I’m working for this summer…you know you’ve made it when you’re an advisor to a politician and you’re being attacked on the floor of the US Senate!
