Well, our good friend Armando is back at it again… yes, it’s time for the monthly Circle K rant!

This guy is really a piece of work. I mean, I know some arrogant know-it-alls (shut up), but he really takes it to a whole new level. His postings in the member community are either funny or very sad, depending on your perspective… let me explain.

The first thing to note is that most rumors have him running for International President again this year. This is fine except that he would be the mouthpiece for the organization… but he has a weaker command of the English language than a number of fresh off the boat asian math professors I’ve had over the years… and any of you who have taken more than two math classes at a major university know how sad that is.

Actually, I’m probably just jealous. I mean… how can I say that about a guy who comes up with such innovative language as the word “confusement.” And then we have to consider soon-to-be literary masterpieces like the following:

The Membership Development and Benefits committee has nothing to do with International expansion (As you will see with the upcoming board book coming out any minute). Most of our work is based on benefits for todays members as well as seek information on why our retention rates are low and more.

Subject and verb agreement is far too constricting for such a genius as Armando. Also, I think we all know that the word ‘amendment’ ought to be spelled ‘ammendment’. Armando is actually brave and innovative enough to shrug off cultural norms like spelling in the name of true art. What, don’t believe me? Here’s some more:

In terms of research, the 10 clubs/225 members rule was created partially due to the age-old question “how much clubs should be considered to be a district?” and in order to finance the goods and services (GATC, support of a district board, visits by International Officers, etc.) that CKI provides districts.

“How much clubs!” Armando will go down in history with Faulkner for brilliant, but completely unintelligible writing. But that’s just one of the services he offers… in addition, he never hesitates to tell you what you should be thinking, and instead of using such pedestrian methods as ‘convincing’, he’s much bolder than that… he just straight-up tells you:

We can’t see the 50% rule as just 50%. 50% does not refer to all the schools in a district that can have a CKI club. You need to have 50% numbers of the amount of 4 year institutions (if less than 20 in your district). Most people see it as this:

- If you have 18 four year institutions then you must have at least 9 clubs and a membership of around 180 (some of the 4 year institutions might be under 1000 students and thus would only need a membership of 15).

You should really see it as this:

Of course, nobody’s perfect and when you’re as phenomenal as Armando, you might get a little egotistical… but I think we can forgive him that. I mean… is it really wrong for him to think that all international policy derivations need to go through him?

Just with the way this ammendment is being presented is wrong. To have 04-05 Governor’s as well as I-Board members upset because of the exclusion of participation with this proposal that concerns them does not look good. To know that e-mails have been sent to some people with these ammendments with the thought of excluding the I-Board members for reasons such as not allowing the ammendments to be presented at the HOD and also to counter strike with bias ammendments is insulting.

No… that seems fair. I mean, if he didn’t have a hand in all of it, he wouldn’t be able to explain it to us and we’d all be left in confusement.

I think it’s almost time for a new version of the “Top 10 CKI Tools List”, no?

  2. Pete says:

Choosing just ten could be hard. Maybe we need a “Tool-or-Not” type system.
