Along with my acceptance letter from a few days ago was an invitation to their “Spring Law Day” — because the jury is still out as to whether I’ll be getting into UCLA or Georgetown I thought I might go have a look at the school I might be attending next year. [″Wait, backup… what about Alabama!?”] You’re right, until I got in to IU I had been thinking that Alabama would be a better place to go for one year, but over the past few days I’ve changed my mind (at least for now).
Why? Well, Law Schools don’t tend to accept transfers to add to their class size… only to replace those who drop out, transfer elsewhere, or spend a year visiting another campus. That generally means that there aren’t very many spots. Essentially that means that basing my choice on “Well, it’ll only be for a year” would be a fairly silly thing to do, so I really do have to put a lot more emphasis on where I’d rather get my degree than what’s just most convenient. Between ‘Bama and IU, Indiana wins hands down. So at this point I’d have a hard time justifying going to Alabama just because it’s convenient.
On the flip side, one would presume that if IU let me in once, I could always transfer there next year if things don’t work out at a better school…
…but none of that matters just yet. Tomorrow I’m headed to Bloomington, although I may swing by Champaign for dinner if I can get those plans worked out. It adds a few hours of driving, but it’s not like I have anything pressing to do. Saturday will be spent at the law school and sometime in the late afternoon I’ll leave Indiana and head for Dayton (just a few hours away) to party with the Ohio crew before coming back at some point… probably Sunday.
It should be a fun and exciting weekend… and, as usual, guest posting is open. Make me proud.

Cool. A bud of mine is pursuing his PhD at UI.
Law school admissions staff are routinely drunk or afflicted w/ alzhemier’s. I got wait listed at one school on ‘98 decided to get some job experience. After working in a LAW FIRM for 3 yrs I applied again to same school. (Was told initially that I was pretty high on the wait list, but never got accepted.) OK, so round 2, flat out DENIED! Still don’t get that one. But ya know what….
It doesn’t matter cause I am graduating in 8 weeks BAY-BEE!
I think I may have to donate all my study guides to Pete …. hmmmmmm
