I got a big envelope from Indiana in the mail today. As I took it back to the house, put down my lunch, book bag, and found something with which to open it, my mind raced. Originally the thought had been “Hey! It’s a BIG Envelope! Nobody sends rejections in BIG envelopes!” but that began to turn to “Well… they COULD send rejections in big envelopes…” until I realized there was more than one sheet of paper inside.
Only the biggest assholes on the planet would reject someone on more than one page, right?
Right. Which is why I was very happy to open the envelope and note that the first word after the greeting was “Congratulations!” — anyone who has played this waiting game knows that you don’t read any more than that for a while… and I didn’t. Obligatory phone calls and IMs were made, and then I sat down, ate my lunch and just enjoyed the fact that I’ll be a 1L next year SOMEWHERE.
This ought to make the whole waiting process easier.
Interestingly enough, I got a hand-written note from the Dean saying that he was initially concerned about my GPA… which is quite a coincidence, because I was too. He thinks I’ve not yet reached my full potential (or something like that, it was hard to make out) — so that’s a plus. They have a preview day on Saturday, and I’m going to try to make it up for that, but there’s some planning to be done in the mean time.
…and a paper to write…
…and a test to take…
…but who cares? I got a law school acceptance! Who wants a celebratory drink?

Finally someone who wants me brother. See Pete its all coming together for you now.
Congrats!!!! BTW, I always want a celebratory drink – regardless of whether or not there’s something to celebrate… Congrats again!
I’ll have a margarita on the rocks…and I will raise it up to you very high!!! Congrats Pete.
Congrats Pete!! I’ll be drinking for you tonight. FOR YOU!!
Congrats on the acceptance. I’ll throw back a mug of rootbeer in yer honor.
Given my extremely low tolerance levels, my first and last drink sometime this weekend will be in your honor.
Congrats yo!

Hey, congrats man! You don’t know me, but I too was accepted to Indy Law, and will be attending in the fall. I hope to see you there. Give me an email to let me know what you decide. The more people you know going in, the better, no?
Joe
Hi Joe,
I’m actually admitted to IU-Bloomington for next year, not IU-Indy.
