[Now that I've turned my I.S. in I'm allowed to post!]
So, after our two weeks of spring break at The College of Wooster in Ohio, the first Monday back is the BIGGEST DAY EVER FOR SENIORS…(well next to graduation)…
Our Independent Study is due.
Each senior is required to complete an intense year of individual research and write a thesis or produce a creative work. What you do depends on your major. (I’m a Business Economics major so I wouldn’t be writing on Van Gogh or anything. My I.S. was on state fiscal crises.) Although many schools have senior or honors projects–this thing is like no other. It’s like a master’s thesis project and takes up 1/4 of your courseload for the senior year.
Well, I turned my I.S. in today and what did I get? What was the grand prize?
A yellow button [with the number of the order I turned it in] and a tootsie roll. BTW my number was 162.
I.S. Monday does not end when the Registrar’s office closes. We have a march around campus led by the bagpipers and the Dean of the Faculty at 5pm sharp. Imagine having to lead 400 drunk seniors around campus and hoping no one trips on bricks, pukes, and passes out before getting to the pizza party way across campus. It’s suppose to be one of the most memorable days of your life [next to your wedding, birth of first child, etc]. OK maybe of college.
Although you won’t see me at LeRoy’s at 8am…I’ll see you at Noon.
Now there are several concerns I have for the march tomorrow: 1.) mud 2.) snow 3.) that I don’t win the award for the longest I.S. title [which due to tight competition I can't reveal now] 4.) I won’t be able to wear the skirt that I bought due to the weather [It's super cute!].
We shall see…and I’ll reveal my title at a later date if anyone is interested.
HAPPY PRE-MONDAY!
