So I’ve been busy and boring lately, nevertheless, here are some things that have wound up in the LinkDump lately:

• Rape as a “Men’s Issue”
Wizbang! highlights a post by Lauren at feministe.us on why Rape is a Men’s issue. While I tend to think too much of Lauren’s post tends to be feminist propaganda and the semantics of blame, I do agree a fair bit of the post and especially the quote that she pulled from Derrick Jensen

Years ago I stayed for a few days at the house of a friend who runs a battered-women’s shelter. One of the remarkable things about this woman is that whenever she meets a new man, whether he drives her in a taxi, sits next to her on a subway, or crashes in her spare room, she asks him what it will take for men to stop beating on women.

She has her own theory. She believes that violence against women will stop – and presumably the same is true for violence against blacks, Jews, children, homosexuals, or other targeted classes – only when other men refuse to socially reward those who are violent. “Women can’t do it by ourselves. If a man hits his girlfriend, the man’s friends need to stop playing basketball with him, and they need to tell him why. They need to confront him about it, and they need to socially isolate the men who have shown themselves incapable of mature relationships. And they need to do it every time. The bottom line is that members of the class of people who are doing the violence – in this case, men – need to take responsibility for the violence done by their class, and they need to work to stop it. Until that happens, not very much will change.

• Gancing!?
What. The. Fuck.

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) — The metrosexual movement may have gone too far — now, straight guys are trying to dance with each other instead of women.

According to the upcoming issue of “Stuff” magazine, the hottest dance trend in New York clubs is “gancing,” a term for when guys boogie oogie oogie together.

One popular “gance step” features one guy pretending to be a shark while his pal runs away in fright. Another manly move has the guys pretending to be kangaroos complete with pouches and Fosters beer.

It sounds gay but editor Bill Schulz says gancing is actually a carefully choreographed way that straight guys use to meet women.

In fact, one Manhattan travel agent says he gets more phone numbers from ladies from doing a dance routine where he pretends to give birth to a pal than he ever did hanging out at the bar.

Pretends to give what to his what!?

• My Site has Always Been Awesome
The Beloit College Mindset Lists take a look at the world through the eyes of the entering college freshman and show the rest of us what has “always” been true. Interesting read, for sure.

• VDHBlog
Victor Davis Hanson now has a blog this is good because he’s very smart. You should read it. Lots.

• Social Darwinism
It’s stories like these that make me believe that some people were never fit for life on this planet:

A computer game addict in western China collapsed and died at his screen after playing the popular online game Saga non-stop for 20 hours, a news report said today.

The 31-year-old began playing the game regularly at an internet cafe in Chengdu, Sichuan province, three months before his death, according to the South China Morning Post.

An employee at the cafe said he would play for more than 10 hours a day and was found dead on Saturday morning after a marathon 20-hour session, the newspaper said.

Besides… any fool should be able to play a game for 20 hours without dying. Pansy.

• Offshoring
Finally, I have to humbly request that all you people whining about the offshoring of jobs kindly shut the hell up. It may be economically bad for individuals, but it’s good for our economy at large. Really. It is.

…there! That should keep you busy for a while.
