[Note: I had a great post written and hit “reset” instead of “submit” so I’m rewriting it, but not nearly as well as I had before.]
It was a relaxing weekend, but that basically means that I didn’t get a damn thing done that I was supposed to. Shame on me. That’s alright though. I did get a chance to give Hilary the grand tour of Tuscaloosa, and she was shocked at how seriously we take our football around here. Can you blame her, though? If I went to U. Maryland I wouldn’t want to take football very seriously either.
Last night was lots of fun. We got a call from Jay saying his fraternity was having Rollin’ in the Hay at their party and he wanted to know if I was interested in being put on the guest list. Having heard so many great things about Hay from Kelly, I decided to give it a shot. I also invited her along, but I got rejected. It was sad, but I’m over it now.
The band was great, and after the band quit playing, we were exposed to a UA Sig Ep tradition. Apparently on Feb 28 in 1894 (or whatever) the Sig Ep house burned down. Now they have a party every year (Called “Burnin’ Down the House”) to commemorate the event. After the party, the floor of the band room is flooded and guests at the party go sliding across it. This is allegedly metaphorical for putting out the fire. I think it’s just one of those times where someone was really drunk and had “an awesome idea.” I took part in the sliding, though, and that left me wet, cold, and VERY entertained. It was a blast.
I’d also like to thank the kind souls who [wo]manned the fort while I was away. Amy, Irene, and Matt did a great job, as usual. Check back next weekend for more guest posting as I’ll be headed to Gainesville for the Frostbreaker Ultimate Frisbee Tournament — more details to follow.
