So yesterday the Birmingham Ultimate Disc Association (BUDA) had it’s annual mid-winter hat tournament. Folks from all over the place came, especially notable was a large contingent from Emory and three or four guys from RHODE ISLAND (yes, THAT Rhode Island).
In a hat tournament you have no idea what team you’re going to be playing on until you get there. When you register you put your name in a hat (sometimes there are multiple hats — one for each skill level) and teams are dealt out of the hats. Anyway, there were 8 teams (Teams 1 – 4 and Teams 7 – 10), I was on Team 10.
Every team played three pool games and then the top two teams in each pool went on to the semi-finals. My team went 1 and 2, and didn’t make it to the semis, but it was fun anyway. I actually played pretty well in the first two games, but did something funky to my knees in the second game which slowed me down considerably in the third. Anyway…
I left for Birmingham at 8:30 yesterday morning and got back at around 6:00. I ate dinner, took a shower, and was planning on taking a nap before going to a little party/get together with Amanda and Rachel. So I set my alarm for an hour and a half and hit the sack around 9:30. I must’ve been tired, though, as I slept through my alarm at 11:00pm, two phone calls (at 12:30 and 2:15), and my alarm at 8:00am before waking up a few minutes ago. At some point I took my contacts out, but I’m not sure when and I certainly don’t remember doing it.
So anyway, sorry Rach and Amanda! Maybe next time! For now, I need to get ready to go play Winter League Ultimate Frisbee games… right now we’re tied for the league lead (we had been undefeated, but we lost a lot of players to winter break and have lost three of our last six games) going undefeated today would help our situation immensely.

Alright – I forgive you. Wesli was like, \”Well, maybe he just doesn\’t want to answer a call from you – give me his number!\” A good time was had by all, but we missed you.
