First of all, I think you need to go read this post by Bobby. Then come back here and finish reading my thoughts, otherwise they’ll make even less sense than usual.

My basic take on the situation is this: I told you so. I told every last one of you. TOLD. YOU. SO.

1. I told you that the positive effects of the dues increase wasn’t going to be seen.

2. I told you that Kiwanis wasn’t going to go for the restrictions and such added to the dues increase.

3. I told you that staff is worthless and that the KI Board is little more than a staff puppet.

Ok, I didn’t write all of it here, but I’ve shared those sentiments more times than I care to count. Before I go any further, let me make something clear: Lenny Simmons is the only trustee on that board who shouldn’t be kicked off. He stood up for CKI, and should be commended for that. The rest of them? Worthless.

Do you want my opinion on why the dues increase passed? Sure you do. It passed because the KI Board would rather cut funding for CKI than cut funding for the $30/plate dinners that its members have at the Board meetings. It’s a prime example of “pork politics” and it’s an example of why the entire Kiwanis Family is going to become more and more obscure.

The Staff is worthless, the KI Board is worthless, and unless the CKI Board stands up for itself, they’re all worthless too.

What do you say we all get together and start a new International Service organization that doesn’t suck?

  1. You have no idea how many times I\’ve had the same thought. (About starting a new organization.)

If I didn\’t love my club, there\’s no way I\’d stick around and support this kind of shit.

  2. Hmmm… maybe we all need to band together and all post buttons on our blog that say: \”FUCK KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL\” and link to bobby\’s post.

  3. Make a button

  4. already have one…it\’s called
    Alpha Phi Omega
    -annual dues $12 a year I think
    -no magazine
-only two full time staff members
    -national HQs bought (and
    maintained) by alumni donations
    -unfortunately, no adult group..
    college as actives, alumni as
    national board of directors
    but no \”active\” alumni chapters
