Long story short: I saw a link in my referrers to The Dog Snot Diaries and in browsing around found this beautiful piece of social commentary. Without further ado, I give you… Anyone Can Be a Democrat
Virtually anyone can be a Democrat. Just simply quit thinking and vote that way. But, if you want to be a GOOD Democrat, there are some prerequisites you must have first. Compare the list below and see how you rate:
1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
2. You have to believe that the same teacher who can’t teach 4th graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law-abiding Americans, are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese communists.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical, documented changes in the earth’s climate, and more affected by yuppies driving SUVs.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
9. You have to believe that hunters don’t care about nature, but loony activists from Seattle do.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe the military, not corrupt politicians, start wars.
12. You have to believe the NRA is bad, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good, because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E. Lee or Thomas Edison.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides aren’t.
16. You have to believe Hillary Clinton is honest, trustworthy, and didn’t have a clue that Bubba was cheating on her.
17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn’t worked anywhere it’s been tried, is because the right people haven’t been in charge.
18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but a liar and sex offender belongs in the White House.
19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites and bestiality should be constitutionally protected and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
20. You have to believe that illegal Democratic party funding by the Communist Chinese is somehow in the best interest of the United States.
Vote Democratic… It’s easier than getting a job!

Actually, the wording is a bit off kilter in some places but I do AGREE! These are just some of the reasons why I AM a Democrat!
No comment. That speaks volumes for itself.
Pete, this is a wonderful entry!
I was having a discussion with a Democrat a couple of weeks ago.
Her arguement was that the reason Detroit is poor, crime ridden and 90-something % black is that big businesses like Comerica built a baseball stadium instead of spending the money on revitalizing detroit.
When I pointed out that Comerica Park(Home of the Tigers) brings jobs, tourists, and money to Detroit my democrat friend also said that it was the fault of all the people who moved out of Detroit and all the people who aren\’t moving to Detroit right now.
People, if you aren\’t moving to Detroit right now, YOU are the cause of crime and poverty. Liberalism at its finest.
Well, Amy, you sure can\’t blame the poor people for being poor. I mean, those middle and upper class people who worked their asses off to get where they are should be supporting the people who haven\’t done shit all their lives and are sustaining on free money from the democrats!
Amen, Brother!!!
To clarify, I was not making a statement on the poor being lazy. Sure, there are some lazy people out there, but many poor have gotten into a rut that they can\’t get out of. A minimun wage job isn\’t enough to live above poverty level. Don\’t have the education to get a better job. Don\’t have the money to get an education. etc. Plus, many people who had the money to move out of Detoit and into the suburbs did so. (And you can\’t blame them, unless you\’re a democrat)
My point is much more that for Detroit to turn around, the people living there right now need to take pride in their community. Clean it up. Get rid of crime. People will come back, jobs will come back, and money will come back. I think this is much more so the solution than for people to \”stop being lazy.\”
So to sum that up, I do not at all claim that people in Detroit are poor because they are lazy about getting a job. Lazy about improving their community - probably.
Nobody said that all poor people were lazy. On a personal level, I think a little initiative would go a long way for a lot of people.
I don\’t think it\’s the governments job to keep people from being poor. If you\’re on welfare, you SHOULD be poor and uncomfortable.
That\’s odd. I have no idea how my site got linked to yours. I\’ve never seen this blog before.
