It seems that the discussion over the last entry is dying down, which is good. More on that later.

I’ve read more news articles about the forthcoming war than I even care to recite, and I’ll leave finding them as an exercise to you, if you’re interested. If you have even a half-dozen neurons working correctly you should be able to find some. Lots of people support the war. Lots of people don’t. Regardless, however, the war will commence. When it does, I hope that we as a country can come together and support the brave men and women risking their lives in our armed forces. I hope that those who don’t support the troops get exactly what they have coming to them.

For some god unknown reason, I receive hits relatively frequently from US military installations. Whether you’re at home or abroad, enlisted or discharged — thank you for all that you’re doing (or have done) for our great nation.

On a lighter note, plans for my spring break trips are coming along nicely. Lodging for next year isn’t. I’ve done everything that I can do for my summer work plans, and I should be registering for the LSAT soon. I’m all registered for classes for next semester, and work is going well.

To vent a bit: it happens that one of the world’s most emotionally unstable individuals (we’ll call her “Alice”) was just promoted not too long ago at her company (we’ll call it “Bob-mart”). Alice is probably one of the least effective leaders in the history of Bob-mart… she’s manipulative, shallow, two-faced, melodramatic, power-hungry, and exceptionally passive-aggressive. Her current employees pretty much unanimously hate her… and she loves communicating inappropriate messages via inappropriate mediums. I would be surprised that Bob-mart promoted her… except that I think the current managers at Bob-mart are only slightly more qualified to lead than Alice is. Ok. I feel better now. There may be more on this later, though…

Alright… now back to the stuff on my anti-anti-war post. As I guessed, I caught some flak for it. Oh well. For those of you not wanting to sift through the pages of comments, I’ll summarize for you:

1. Joan proved that she was clueless and uninformed by saying that there wasn’t any evidence of WMD Programs or ties to Al Queda. She also spouted a poorly thought out blood-for-oil theory. Oh, and the government is lying to us.

2. Manny thinks the government lies too, but makes the point that war is our only option at this point. (This was quite astute of him, I think)

3. I gave Joanie-poo a little reading material. My hope was that she’d actually attempt to discredit Colin Powell’s and Condi Rice’s arguments. I also implored her to make a valid case for her leftist rhetoric.

4. Lisa made the very valid point that not ALL anti-war protesters are morons. Which they aren’t, I don’t suppose. I agreed with her.

5. Batty weighed in on Bush’s less than effective diplomacy and the tendency of students to skip class. “Oh and you ALWAYS get into trouble whenever you’re dealing with a cause people feel they can rationally skip class for. Because anyone loves a legit excuse to skip class and feel good about it.”

6. Joan set the record for quickest to prove that she hadn’t read the other side’s arguments. She also proved that she had no concept of any of the UN’s resolutions. She quoted a poorly informed article in a UK Newspaper. She used Fox News to blanket categorize the leftist media as “completely government controlled biased media” and again reminded us that the government lies to us. Joan’s score to date:
Opinions Issued: I lost count
Facts Used: Zero

7. I discredited everything she said (using facts where applicable, mind you) and mentioned that “If you want to debate HERE, it’d be useful for you to try to answer the questions, instead of dodging them.”

8. Joan came back to find that she’d lost and decided to sling a few last unsubstantiated insults… just like the class act I’m sure she is.

9. Manny noted that he had a red, white, and blue ass. I encouraged him to get that looked at.

10. [http://seanmcd98.blogspot.com/|Sean] poked fun at the French. Yes, they’re an easy target… but fun! I told him to quit listening to the Governments lies: “Oh, and we never landed on the moon. And your neighbors are government spies.”

11. Justin wants us all out of his country! Now! GO ON… GET GOING!

12. Kelly, Daniel, Manny, and I digressed into a discussion about the moon, potatoes, and Birmingham. Oh, and Manny mentioned that “The Internet is a conspiracy too yo”

One Response to “War, my Last Post, and Bob-mart”

  1. batty says:

Just to pop in and add this - from the last round of comments:

\”I didn\’t read through it all, just wanted to comment that the last time the world let a country ignore a disarmorment treaty after a war, Adolf Hitler was elected to power and proceeded to wipe his ass with the treaty until his military was strong enough to take over most of Europe.

You\’d think the French of all people would understand why allowing madmen to have weapons is bad, but then again these are the same morons who left their left flank unprotected because Holland and Belgium were neutral. The Germans would never come through neutral countries to attack them.\”

And I\’d like to add to that - the US huffed and puffed about not wanting to get into that war for ages. And bought the Hitler rhetoric hook line and sinker - not to mention the happy lil pro Nazi clubs and rallies that popped up in the US around the time. And there wasn\’t much news coverage of the holocaust/genocide until way into the midst of the war, the worst not known til afterwards.

We were wrong then - we could be wrong now. I mostly think we\’re arrogant assholes for stepping in, thumbing our nose at the rest of the world, and saying \”fine, we\’ll do this ourselves.\” It\’s not a very democratic attitude. If I lived in another country I wouldn\’t trust us either.

But we\’re in now, and the point is moot. Until the next election, that is.

BTW, I don\’t give a rip for eveyone saying \”it\’s a just war, we need to do this, humanitarian democratic blah blah blah.\” Where were these people when we left the Kurds high and dry back in the last Gulf War?
