Well, well, well… despite the growing mountain of evidence, both factual and anecdotal, the anti-war folk continue to want the nation to stick it’s head in the sand and ignore the WMD programs, the egregious humanitarian crises, and the UN Mockery that Iraq continues to participate in and perpetuate.

First and foremost… all the folks who wanted a smoking gun? I got yer smoking gun RIGHT HERE! Coalition forces today seized a 100 acre, camouflaged, Chemical Weapons facility. Wow. I thought they didn’t have any of those!

We all know why France opposes the war. First, they’re a nation of cowards (as evidenced by virtually every military conflict that they’ve ever been a part of). On top of that, the CIA World FactBook has this to say about France and Iraq: “In 2001 France became Iraq’s largest European trading partner.” It should come as no surprise, then, that Russia (another of the War’s biggest opponents) has it’s hands in the cookie jar too. The WaPo is reporting that Russia has been supplying Iraq with weapons. Hmm… this isn’t exactly “UN Sanctioned” is it?

Then we have the obvious protesters are clueless.

I speak out because [the protesters] need to be told they are wrong. They need to support their country. They need to be told the truth - and that is that the Iraqi people have been suffering human rights crimes for decades.

Two unattributed shorts:

I was chatting with [Abby] about the seemingly high number of friendly fire casualties. The fact that they’re such a big deal is a good thing for two reasons. First, the DoD needs to devote more energy to preventing this sort of thing in the future. It’s not an issue right now, we’re going to have FF-KIAs, it’s not an option not to. It’s going to require tech advances, research money, and time. Second, they’re making such big news because there are so few combat fatalities. I’m still hunting for reliable stats from previous wars on Friendly Fire KIA numbers. If I find them, I’ll post here.

In a similar vein, the atrocity committed by the 101st Airborne’s Sgt. Asan Akbar has gotten a lot of people I know making some rather silly comments. First of all, it very well COULD have been terrorism. How? Well… if it was an Al Queda operative working against the US and not with Iraq, it wouldn’t really be considered part of the war. Of course, that’s a non-issue, as the soldier was from the US. One might note that the man is Muslim. I did.

Now, I’m certainly not going to say that Muslims are all violent… because on the whole what I know of the religion is that the true teachings of it are peaceful… however… there are an absurdly large number of “Islamic Fundamentalist” or “Islamic Extremist” groups that take the teachings to a sick and twisted level… so it’ll be interesting to see what this nutbag cites as his motivation.

Aside: I’d much rather him be put in Fed. Pen. than get Court Marshalled… he’d be everyone’s bitch in prison… probably more popular than the child molesters.

  1. Even though I am in favor of the death penalty. I am in favor of it being used when someone is also a threat to escape from prison if given a life sentence. This little muslim would be MUCH better off in \”Federal fuck-me-in-the-ass Prison\”
