…actually, what am I talking about? yes I do.

I guess somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind I knew this day would come. Who would guess that it’d only take 6 weeks? Who would’ve thought that three members could put together a site that caused enough of a fuss that 19 governors would petition against it and the international board would pass a resolution about it?

We took the site down at noon, and there are some thoughts I keep having that are going to burn a hole in my head if I don’t say them.

A lot of these things are only related to each other loosely, so bear with me.

I could go on for days about certain governors. Someday I might. What really cracks me up is that you can tell who’s running for International Office in Indy. One in particular likes to say bad things about me behind my back, lead the charge on the Gov’s reflector for disciplinary action, and then turn around and make nice in an email. Sorry, I’m not buying it.

Then we have Steve Werner, the Kiwanis International Webmaster. A man who is frequently lauded by staff and board alike for his hard work. This hard working staff member has sent roughly 5 pages worth of email over the past few days, the vast majority of which has been utter bullshit. Apparently Stevie thinks he’s a lawyer. He’s not. This is made VERY clear by the pages worth of legal threats that wouldn’t even stand up in court if the judge owed him a favor.

He spends the rest of his emails talking about how great he is, and how bad we are. He calls PHP a “entry level language,” which it clearly isn’t. He implies that we’re somehow minor-league coders. Sorry, Steve. I’ve seen your work. You’re washed up. I could out code your best work on a Commodore 64 with a broken keyboard.

Let’s not forget the fact that he’s contacted the FBI, hundreds of webhosts, and watchdog organizations that keep a look out for belligerent web sites. This all by his own admission. And this is what he’s spent our dues dollars to do over the past week. See! And you say you don’t get anything for your $18.

Let us not forget the International Board. Before they went to indy at least half of the board supported the site. When they get home, I get to see a copy of a resolution (which STILL has not been sent to us) which basically says that the site is the scourge of the devil, and that we should burn for creating it.

Now some board members have tried to argue that it would’ve been different if we hadn’t posted the dues info before it was released. The more I thought about it, the more it makes sense. One of our posts came when only 11 people were supposed to have the info. Well, here’s the kicker: how did I get the information? Let me tell you: I got it from another club president. A president who really doesn’t talk with her district governor or trustee all that regularly.

If this information was so secret, how did she get it folks? Oh… wait… you mean the BOARD LEAKED THEIR OWN SECRET? Well I’ll be damned. But it’s still our fault for posting it, right? Of course… because a reasonable person should assume that if a random club president has the information that it’s probably TOP SECRET. Makes perfect sense.

What makes me more irritable about this whole board situation is that it’s not logical to be upset with all of them, but there’s no way to tell which of them are honest hard working board members and which of them were just covering their own asses.

And to think… after all this, they want MORE money. They must anticipate an increase in the number of unofficial websites in the near future, they seem expensive to combat!

His feeble jedi programming skills are no match for ours.

Watch out he can implement a third party crap service on the website.

Here\’s the thing. I\’m in NO WAY at all involved with any of this. But I get bored sometimes and so I read your posts. THIS IS PISSING ME OFF!! It seems like the problem is obvious. There are a large group of people in official control of the organization that are getting, in one way or another, payed for NOTHING!! What\’s more, they know this, and people who are vulnerable like they are must resort to absolute oppression. PHP a ENTRY-LEVEL language, oh and HTML is SOOO hard. Entry-level my ass!! They should hire someone who has a clue, but what they need is what they got, an incompetent IDIOT!!

I learned PHP in elementary school the week after we got done with BASIC (we didn\’t have DOS computers yet).

It doesn\’t get much more elementary than that :-)

So you all posting the dues increase information is causing them to get all pissy. Interesting.

What is even more interesting is that agenda points are supposed to be submitted 5 weeks before the board meeting. Agenda points are also supposed to be publically released 2 weeks before the board meeting. This one was kept top secret till the board meeting. What is even more amazing is that at 145 pm on Friday after the board meeting, the wonderful CKI staff has STILL NOT POSTED this agenda point!!! So you have a situation in which the international board and international staff is breaking their own rules. They broke the 5 week rule. They broke the two week disclosure rule. And, they must have broken their own communications plan if this info was \”leaked.\” Like it was the launch codes for Iraq or something. Please. They are getting mad because an agenda point has been leaked. The insanity bus has arrived at Woodview Trace, and they have officially gone off the deep end. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
