We’re back again. :) It was requested that we provide a copy of the original email that we sent to staff, so we’re going to do that. I also think it’d be useful for everyone to see the policy, as defined in the CKI Policy, that talks about conduct unbecoming of a member.

Here’s the letter to Casey and staff. There was no reply.
Here’s a list of all of my posts about UnofficialCKI.

Here’s an excerpt from the policy code, only points 1 through 4 in section J are applicable to conduct unbecmoing:

Section J: Conduct

  1. Conduct unbecoming a member of Circle K is defined as any conduct that is:
    1. incompatible with the best interests of public or of members of the Kiwanis family; or
    2. tend or threatens to harm the standing or reputation of the Kiwanis family in the local or global community.
  2. 2. A violation of the policy defining conduct unbecoming a member of Circle K may result in disciplinary action against the offending member. Disciplinary action can result in a private reprimand, a public reprimand, or dismissal from the organization. A private reprimand is communicated to the individual violating the “conduct policy” as a warning. A public reprimand requires notification of the district board or district governor of the individual violating the “conduct policy.” Dismissal means removal from the member’s office or club.
  3. Any individual receiving written notice as provided in the applicable bylaws shall be permitted to hear all evidence against him or her and be afforded the opportunity to provided evidence in his or her defense. The appropriate ruling body shall hear the evidence and determine what sanction, if any shall be imposed, and such decision shall be final.

Now… keeping in mind that we’re being threatened with Kiwanis International’s policy, not CKI’s, someone tell me how we’re doing any of these things. Please? Anyone? Bueller?

Excerpts from the KI Policy Code will be posted as soon as I can get my hands on them.

  1. It\’s real simple what you did.

\”tend or threatens to harm the standing or reputation of the Kiwanis family in the local or global community.\”

By three college students throwing together a better site in free time than these paid professionals do in paid working time, you harmed their reputations as web designers. Before unofficialcki.org, kiwanis.org and all the Kiwanis family sites were held in high esteem by the global community as pinacles of web design. Since the launch of unofficialcki.org, the entire international community has come to look down on Kiwanis family websites and, in effect, all members of the Kiwanis family.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

  2. I am ashamed. So very very ashamed. What should my punishment be? (Besides being sued and kicked out of Circle K)

  3. You\’re so right Sean! Amy… maybe we should subject ourselves to severe beatings for even daring to question the supreme authority of the Kiwanis International Web Designers.

After all… who can argue with the folks who came up with \”The Purple?\”

  4. I can.

  5. Hmmm… a Kiwanis Family policy that is vague, undefined, and able to be interpreted for whatever purpose you want. It never gives any body authority to enforce this policy or enforce sanctions and it does not even define what breaking the policy really entails! So here is my interpretation of the policy: If you do something that Casey or Stan does not agree with, they can kick you out with out any chance to be heard. They can also stone you, shave your head, or any other tactic that they like. Funny part is, for years people have tried to make the policy more clear, and for years staff has been able to get people to resist changing the policy. Why? Because then, they would not have their god-like power anymore! One day I hope we all can take positions in Kiwanis so we can change things, but at the current rate, I don\’t think there will be a Kiwanis in 10 years, if they keep making these decisions and keep driving themselves further into bankruptcy and trouble. The greatest thing about being insane is that you know you are always right!!!!!

  6. That a way guys (Amy, Manny, and Pete) Keep representin\’ nasty style. Everyone knows deep down inside that the web site is the best thing that has happened to Circle K International

  7. What about self-imposed sanctions? For a period of one year, we remove ourselves from eligibility to participate in the… um… cki postseason?

  8. I think a self-imposed scholarship restriction and bowl-ban would be better. Do we have to forfeit any of our past wins?

  9. You have to forfeit the IVP win. I\’m terribly sorry.
Maybe I should decline my invitation to the Conduct Unbecoming of a Kiwanis Family Member bowl, Sponsored by the International Office.

  10. Did I forefeit that win already, last February? Hey! I got an invite to that bowl too! Are we competing?

  11. No, I think we\’re competing together against criminals of a similar caliber. You know… larsonists, drug dealers, mass murderers, etc.

  12. Sigh…

  13. Leave it to Bama and Michigan people to think that the NCAA is being too tough. :-)

Here\’s the sanctions the NCKIAA should hand down:

Bama deserves the death penalty on principle :-) No Bama CKI website usuage next year at all, and the year after they cannot have their own website but can visit other CKI clubs\’ websites.

Michigan must forfeit all webpages for the past two years and turn back any and all webpage awards to the international and/or district offices. All patches must be removed from the club banner.

Manny\’s from some west coast school that doesn\’t get any coverage so the NCKIAA won\’t bother to sanction them anymore thanno use of bold or italics tags for the next year.

  14. Leave it to someone from LSU to try to get the bama folk out of the way. *sigh*

  15. GO 49ers! Umm…I\’m a BULL DOG next year. One state away from Pete, I don\’t think the government knows that He and I are going to next to each other.
