Welcome to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where someone forgot that it’s supposed to be the middle of farking December! I had some errands to run so I grabbed a shower, got ready, and took one step on to my front porch only to figure out that whomever is in charge of the thermostat in the greater Tuscaloosa area had fallen asleep at the controls. Yes, my friends, the temperature today was 73. Seventy-three. Freezing + 51. I was shocked.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. Except that I had to quick dart back into the house to make sure that the heat was not on. The temperature regulation in the house is about as good as that of a refrigerator with 28 gopher-sized holes in it. And the door open. With a neat little fire burning inside. It’s that bad. I swear, when its beautiful outside, it’s not inside. When it’s cold outside, it’s warm inside… if you stand in the closet with the furnace. When it’s warm outside, well, you can pretty much bet that it’s going to be at least that warm inside. Yet, regardless of how effective the central heat/air is, our electric bill is always astronomical in the summer, and our gas bill is monstrous in the winter. It’s a conspiracy. I swear the utilities pay landlords to skimp on insulation in the houses that they rent to students. I guess I am complaining. But not about the temperature outside.
In school-related news, my final grades are in for the semester. My Physics and Japanese grades weren’t good in general, but they were good for the amount of effort that I put in… and they were DEFINITELY good enough to move on to the next level. Microprocessors, on the other hand, I didn’t quite get what I expected. I did my math, I figured that if I got an A on the final, I’d get a C or maybe a C+. Yeah, that’s what happens when you neglect to go to lab all semester. Well, I felt like I did really well on the final, but I didn’t get a C or a C+. For some reason, and I’m not quite sure why, I got an A. Granted, I did have an A test average… and I think I may have gotten a 100% on the final, but… well… nevermind. This is one of the reasons why people hate me. Such is life. In life we take gambles… sometimes we win, some times we lose. Looks like I won this time.
What else is new? Not a damn thing. I’m going home Friday-ish. Maybe Saturday. I don’t know quite yet. I’ll be home for Christmas, New Years (heaven help me… if you have plans, and I can tag along, please let me know…) and Holiday Embrace (a Circle K Charity Formal near Chicago) then it’s back to school to take some wonderfully neat 400-level Computer Science Classes. You’ll hear PLENTY more about those starting in January. I promise.
In the mean time, if you’re in Tuscaloosa and want to drag me away from my house, give me a call.
PS: I added photos from this summer’s HEAD Tour to the gallery. HEAD Tour was a group of folks who traveled to [Circle K] International Convention and stopped all over the place visiting other Circle K Clubs. They stopped in T-Town and we all had a blast. Photos here.

Pete, when was the last time you left the house? It\’s been oddly warm since I left T\’loosa last Saturday (and I\’m only two hours north of there now). This makes two years in a row that I was wearing a t-shirt and some form of pants when packing my car to drive home for Christmas. I thought that was weird last year, but it\’s becoming a tradition…

Pete Holiday is the luckiest kid in the world. Whether it was winning a calculator in first grade or getting A\’s in classes he should have failed, the kid has some natural ability to achieve more than he deserves. Way to go Pete!

I\’d rather embrace other things that come from from AL!
