Alabama clinched the western division championship last night with a win over LSU. The only problem is that Alabama is not eligible to participate in post-season play thanks to some Auburn fans up at the NCAA. What’s really sad is that some team is going to look in the mirror after the SEC Championship and say “We’re the Champions” when, in reality, one of two things is the case. If Georgia wins it, they have to face the fact that they didn’t face the West’s best team, and when they played them in the regular season, they won with the help of utterly blown calls, and a wholly poor showing by Alabama. They would not beat Alabama right now, and would not beat them in the Championship game either… especially given the circumstances of the first game. It’s even worse if the West’s team wins… they wouldn’t even be there in the first place if it weren’t for the NCAA.

All this because the NCAA wanted to make an example of someone, and is more worried about looking tough than being fair. Here’s to that. And here’s to hoping the West wins in Atlanta. Roll Tide.

  1. That\’s too bad, but look on the bright side. Michigan is going to beat OSU on Saturday! GO BLUE!

  2. That wouldn\’t surprise me… Michigan is the luckiest 9-2 team in the nation. Squeaking by Penn State, squeaking by Wisconsin… squeaking by Utah. Sometimes it takes luck to win football games, but Michigan is abusing the privilege. But that really doesn\’t matter. Iowa is the best team in the Big Ten (esp. with Clarett) hands down.

When is the Big Ten going to turn back in to the real conference that it used to be?

  3. Clarett (#13 Ohio State) doesn\’t play for Iowa, but Iowa would definitely kill the Buckeyes. Go Big Blue!

  4. I left a word out of that post it should\’ve read (esp. with Clarett injured). I think OSU can give anyone in the nation all they can handle with that boy taking handoffs, but with him out, I don\’t see how OSU would have the fire-power to beat Iowa.

  5. For the record, OSU is the luckiest 12-0 team in the nation. Squeaking by Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, and Illinois.

  6. Maybe, but if they had Clarett, they\’d pound Michigan, no doubt about it. As it stands they\’ll have a chance to win… maybe the Big Ten ought to hire some refs from a different conference to officiate the game… there\’s no telling what those folks will do.

  7. Amen to the Refs comment.
