CNN brought my attention to an article about a 29-year-old woman who had amassed more than $20,000 in credit card debt. She saw a flier in a supermarket asking for $7,000 to pay off debt. She took the hint and created a website, SaveKaryn.com, where she asked people to donate to her own debt relief.
Amazingly enough, she’s raised over $13,000 from the site. This is a little shocking to me. Of course, there are people who aren’t thrilled about this… DontSaveKaryn.com is run by a group of such people. They seem very, very bitter at the fact that people are giving this woman money.
Or, dare I say, jealous? They call her fiscally irresponsible, which is true, but what difference does it make to them? If people are dumb enough to give this woman money, well, that’s good for her.
I, for one, applaud her for giving the crazy idea the “old college try” and I really don’t know quite what to say about people who are giving her money. Is it generosity? Stupidity? Who knows…

I had pondered the thought of panhandling on the streets of NYC. Put out a lawn chair, wear a 3-piece suit, and have a sign that reads \”Please help me get my 2nd Jaguar out of the shop\”. Just to see how well I do.
There was one guy I saw in Times Square with a sign: \”Yell at me for just $1\”. I couldn\’t yell at the dude, but I gave him five bucks just for the creativity. :0)
I make panhandlers dance for money, that way we both get something.
