Saturday at 8:00am folks will get in line to buy tickets for this year’s basketball season. All students, by default, have tickets to every game. But it’s general admission — first come first served on seating. We have a student organization (Known as “Mark’s Madness”) whose purpose is to make lots of noise at home games. For $10 you get a t-shirt and a reserved seat for all of the home games.

That’s what the line is for. There have been lines like this before… and usually people would camp out days in advance to get good seats. The University, in their brilliance, decided to fix the problem. How, you ask? Easy! Much earlier (usually 12 - 18 hours) you’re supposed to show up and sign a list. You get in line that morning in the order that you sign the list. Problem solved, right? Because nobody’s going to go get in line to sign the list… riiiight.

The list is being signed tomorrow at 6:00pm. According to RollTide.com students have been lined up (with tents and articles of furniture) since Wednesday night. We’re talking 30+ hours of waiting in line for good seats. That’s simply crazy. As of 6:00pm today, I drove by and estimated that there were somewhere between 50 and 100 people there already. I’ll be joining the craziness soon. There’s at rip to Wal-Mart in order and such.

Here’s what’s making me nervous: The Weather Channel is forecasting a 0% chance of rain. ZERO PERCENT? Are you kidding me? Isn’t that like ASKING for a torrential downpour?

I may be back off and on through out the night, I may post updates. Maybe pictures. Who knows. Not me.

Is the line as long as the girl\’s restroom after an Nsync concert?
