This coming weekend, the Alabama District Board will have a chance to do something right. If they take advantage of this opportunity it will be the absolute first time since April 1 (when they took office) that they’ve done something worthwhile.

MER (the Membership Education Rally) is usually a great time, very informative, and one of our biggest conferences. This year, last I heard, attendance was something near 50% of last year’s. The one thing they DID do that showed a little foresight was to hire a professional facilitator. At least they realized that they couldn’t run a conference to save their lives.

Today Cathy and I sat down to try to list every dumbass thing the board has done since its term started. The list did not fit on one sheet of paper. The list was also probably missing some stupid things that we forgot or never knew about.

I have no doubt that it’ll be fun, and that we’ll get to meet some cool people, but I also have no doubt that the District Board will, once again, fail to impress anyone except themselves.

You see, they’re still in awe of their shimmery name-badges and titles… it’s quite possible that their mere existence impresses them.

Some of us are a little bit more difficult to please. Expect a full report sometime after this weekend.
