Pete on April 22nd, 2002

Over the past few days I’ve received a pretty large number of referrals from a link posted in the marine wives forum. It seems that this is a pretty popular place. Neat. This is especially appropriate because my father spent some time in the Marine Corps and fought in Vietnam.

Today is also [Cathy]’s birthday. I think she’s 6. Happy birthday to her.

In other Birthday news… Faith had one recently (April 20th?) Her smugness about keeping it fairly secretive makes me want to pre-date a journal entry about it… Hmmm… ;)

Tess at Just Ignore Me is down with Pete. Not only did she linkify the site, she also sent a very nice email about it. Go visit… you know you want to. Oh, and if you want a porn subscription, she can probably help you out.

The [Blount] formal is this weekend. So is Key Club Convention. Looks like Petey’s going to be up to his elbows in stuff to do. The formal should be fun… I’m going with Misty (a friend, but better friend of [Abby]’s) and we’re doubling with Abby and Matthew. We plan to participate in the consumption of “Adult Beverages” (but not to excess, of course) dance a little and just generally relax. Finals are just around the corner. Key Club Convention is always fun… especially when you’re just there to promote Circle K and spread K-Family love.

What else? We watched part of a horrible movie in my Women in Ancient Greece class today after a guy presented his paper. I came in late and managed to sit on the side of the room closest to the door while he was presenting. This side of the room is where all of the classics majors sit. Almost all of whom take the same classes (at the same times) and went to the Alabama in Greece program last summer. The pre-class jabber over there revolves around Greece (the place) and Greek (the class) and it really tends to intimidate the few of us in the back corner (where I normally sit).

So once the presentation was over, Dr. Summers fought with the VCR. Lisa and Kristi (fellow non-greek-speakers) started looking over and laughing. It’s not common for girls to just randomly laugh at me… not on the outside anyway. So I looked over to see what was going on and they just kept looking and laughing. When Dr. Summers sent for technical reinforcements to get the video to work, I moved to my normal spot. It turns out Lisa and Kristi were trying to find a way to call me a traitor for sitting on the other side of the room… we poked fun at the “I went to Greece” group before the movie started. Kristi and Lisa previously made plans to go to Taco Casa (which Lisa claims is SOO much better than Taco Bell) and after class Kristi invited me to go along. Could be interesting… if Taco Casa is as good as Lisa claims. We’ll see.

Ok… this “short break from work” has turned excessively long, so I’m going to be going.

  1. Happy Birthday, Cathy! I never knew I was older than you…:) So, that must have been a fun class for you, Pete. I wish I could\’ve been there! ;)I hope you have fun this weekend with everything that\’s going on! I love ya\’, Pete, and I\’ll talk to ya\’ later.

  2. Thanks for the Blount Formal Promo- bring EVERYONE and ANYONE you know- even those sketchball roommates of yours— ;) we REALLY REALLY REALLY need to break even this year…

  3. Thanks for the \”happy birthday\”, Ara! I had a wonderful day yesterday, despite having only gotten ~three or four hours of sleep because I was working on a website with a certain Someone, *ahem* Pete, till the weeee hours of the morning. Of course, playing website was all fun, too, and it looks so good! Yay for Pete\’s mad computer skills. As for you being older than I am, we can pretend that I was born on leap year… which would mean I\’m really 24 :). It would also mean that leap year is on April 22… but whatever. In truth, I\’m a big 19 now; I\’m just ~young~ for my age *smile*.

  4. i think i missed out on a lot not going to college — or rather, not staying there when i went. i have this tendency to wander off, mentally first, physically soon after, from all things schooly. *sigh*
