“It’s not paranoia if they really are out to get you.”

On Tuesday an event of unheard of magnitude shook this country to it’s core. One day later, America’s shock is slowly turning to anger. If we can take anything from this experience it’s that things like this CAN happen to America, on our own soil. While this would seem like an obvious lesson, I can only hope that, as Amercia returns to its day-to-day business, this lesson is not lost in the shock and gravity of the attacks.
My case in point? Most NCAA Conferences will be playing football games this coming weekend. Congreations of 50, 60, 70 thousand people in dozens of cities throughout the nation. While these would not be in line with the symbolism displayed thus far, the impact would still be incredibly severe… I can only hope that our institutions of higher learning will have increased (and well trained) security personell on hand for all of our sporting events in the upcoming weeks.
I’d also like to point out something that was especially moving to me: On the 11th, when the congress returned to the steps of the capitol and, after addressing the nation, broke (apparently spontaneously) into “God Bless America.” I cannot think of a time that I have been more proud to be a citizen of this great country. I won’t elaborate. If you saw it, you know how I felt.
